Common questions
Does Sprout need an account or subscription?
No. Sprout is paid once at $4.99. There is no account, no login, no subscription, no IAP.
Does Sprout sync to iCloud or my other devices?
Not in v1. By design, Sprout stores everything locally on the phone it’s installed on. Your iOS iCloud Backup or Android Auto Backup will preserve your data on the same device’s restore — but the app itself doesn’t sync across devices. Cross-device sync is being considered for a future Phase 2 release.
What happens if I get a new phone?
If you restore from iOS iCloud Backup or Android Auto Backup, Sprout’s data should restore with the app. If you reinstall fresh, your plants and watering history will start over.
Why aren’t my notifications firing?
A few common causes:
- Notifications permission was denied. On iOS, go to Settings → Sprout → Notifications. On Android, go to Settings → Apps → Sprout → Notifications.
- Battery optimization is suppressing them (Android). On Android, go to Settings → Apps → Sprout → Battery → Unrestricted. Some manufacturers (Xiaomi, Huawei, OnePlus, Samsung) are particularly aggressive about this.
- Quiet hours / Focus mode is active on your phone.
Can I bulk-import plants from another app?
Not in v1. Add them one at a time — most users have 5–30 plants so this is usually a one-evening task.
Can I export my plants and watering history?
Not in v1. Export is on the Phase 2 list — let us know if this matters to you.
How do I delete a plant?
Open the plant’s detail screen, scroll to the bottom, and tap “Delete”. Plants are hard-deleted along with their watering history and any attached photo. Uninstalling Sprout deletes everything.
Do you have a roadmap?
Yes, broadly:
- Phase 2 (later in 2026): iCloud / cross-device sync, light-requirement notes per plant, manual JSON export, fertilizer schedule.
- Phase 3 (eventual): offline plant species library with default care intervals.
We will never add: subscriptions, accounts, advertising, AI plant identification, social feeds, push streak guilt.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple (App Store) and Google (Play Store). We can’t process refunds directly. Use reportaproblem.apple.com for iOS, or Google Play’s purchase history → refund flow for Android.
